Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It follows the murderous adventures of Victor Crowley across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder stars as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow and Rileah Vanderbilt is Misty.
The film's main strength is the use of real-world special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical as well as sets. This is a departure from the majority of horror films nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. The film also has some really horrifying moments.
The cast delivers a solid performance and Kane Hodder standing out as an incredibly intimidating villain. It feels like a slasher film from the 1980s and the dialogue is a bit too tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are also instances of humor throughout the movie which add humour to bloody action.
Unfortunately, the film's budget was restricted to just $1 million. This means that a lot of locations featured in the film are repeated from previous films. One boat house is featured twice and most of it feels like a rerun of previous films. For those who have seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this can sometimes make the movie appear familiar.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was a good Hatchet 3 (2013) Decker Shado series. There was many gory moments and several great performances by the cast.
